How is durkheim's concept of anomie relevant in reality tv? Is it through production? The content on the show?

A description of anomie and its relation to reality tv would be great!

Hi! Yes it is highly relevant. The concept of anomie basically is a state if normlessness. Reality tv is bad for us and society as it gives us an image of a society that isnt true. However we percieve it to be true and the reality tvs image of society DOES actually become our image of society. Therefore we can get conflicting "images" of society and we do no longer know what image of society to believe, so we are led to a state of normlessness. It links in very well with baudrillards simulacra and hyper reality.
