How Do I know what Mk my Golf is? Its a 98, so Mk3 or Mk4???

Ok, I have an R reg 1998 VW Golf. Now, its either a Mk3 or Mk4. I may need to buy an acoustic shelf for the car, and I need to know which it is.

Please help!

It could be either but its more likely to be a MK4. This is the MK4.

I have to say there are many more MK3 1998 VW's than there are MKIV, so my bet is on the former.

Two conflicting posts! Im still not sure!

If its any help, on some old forms, it says the date registered is Feb 1998.

Anyways, here is a pic i just took.

I think I have a Mk3

Just checked the VW site, and the Pics for the Mk3 show my steering wheel, while the Mk4 shows a different one.

Also, mine is a GL, which is Mk3 only.
