Anyway, I just had a conversation with some med student friends of mine in the pub, and basically a Taser is a lethal weapon, it just depends upon where it's aimed- for example, a shot to directly above the heart would stop the heart and kill you unless artificial respiration were applied immediately.

Also i heard that tasering someone like in the arm or leg has no lasting effect and when you take the taser away then the arm/leg is ok

Depends on the type of taser... you're talking about the ones with prongs, the other poster was talking about the shooting ones.

They both have prongs- the shooting ones can be used as a hand-held contact electric shock gun once the barbs have been fired. Fact.

I really really envy all my friends who are medical students, because they are going to grow up and become doctors and have to deal with that sdort of hilarious injury a lot! :biggrin:

I seem to remember there was talk ages ago of police forces considering using tasers to disable criminals...if the police have and use them, you can bet your ass that they're on the street :wink:

Yeah, didn't the police get authorised to use them a few years back? Not sure if any forces actually carry them as of yet though.

Saw loads of them (and stun guns - the ones that don't fire darts) on sale when I was in California last year. There are probably a good few doing the rounds on the streets of GB too.
