It's late and I'm awake

And it's bad.

Back in Year 10/11 I had such a problem because I'd stay up late, around 3-4am, and wake up for 7am, go to school, come home around 4pm and sleep till 7pm, and then carry on. I did extremely poorly in my GCSEs (it was a huge disappointment considering my predicted grades) and I think 50% sleep pattern is to blame.

Then, as I started Year 12 (3 weeks ago) I was happily sleeping around 10pm and waking up at 7am, but all of a sudden;

-I'm eating an irregular diet to my usual
-Sleeping very little (sleep at 3am wake up at 7am, usually no naps during the day)
-Feeling physically weak a lot
-Getting a bit behind with my work
-Not absorbing all of my work into my mind, like I promised I would, because I don't spend enough time revising

Any tips on how to overcome this? I've always had problems with time management and making huge timetables never work for me. And I'm up now doing coursework in for tomorrow.

Please, no nasty "sort your idiotic self out" advice.

See a doctor

None of us are medics and would love to jump in there before any response and say thats the best solution.

Because its actually something that a Doctor could help you with, its nothing you can just get over for definate.

I stopped up night on friday, climbing snowdon on saturday, and stayed up till 4 am on saturday night. Exercise doesn't necessarily help.

I had a similar problem throughout my a-level year due to depression. I got into this terrible pattern where I couldn't sleep thus couldnt concentrate and so didn't even bother turning up. I went to the doc but they weren't much help, but I;d recommend you tried them as they mgiht be able to help you. In the end I just took it into my own hands and did most of my work from home at hours that suited me and went into school the hours that suited me,luckily teachers were supportive and went out of their way to help, just talk to people about it and they should help you out.

Good luck

Thanks. I think it's mainly managing my time that's the issue. I can spend hours online and the time just goes (eg tonight) and then I realise it's late and I have work to do. I need a way to start my work ASAP but I have no motivation, I'm a lazy slob!

hm... I think it's easier if you are doing subjects that you are passinoate about and enjoy doing or else you wont feel like doing them and put it off. Another thing you coudl try is find a uni course that you LOVE and check out the grades and this could be your aim, because you really wnat to go there you will put the work in to get there.

Maybe you're procrastinating because this isnt want you want to be doing and don't see a point in doing it? IS there anyone at college/school who can help you out with time management, we used to have all these seminars and tutors to help us out on this kind of stuff.

I also used to tell someone at home that I had something due in and they would keep reminding me not to procrastinate if I was talknig online etc, so that you dont look at the clock and realsie you have spend the last few hours with nothing to show for it!
