PMT-The emotional side of things

There seem to loads of threads around about painful cramps etc but hardly anything on the emotional side. I get pretty down and fed up during my period-reaally tearful- so I was just wondering if anyone had any ways to deal with that. You can take paracetamol for cramps but this is a bit harder to deal with.
I'm Lucky dont get any cramps or get down, so dont know much about the emotional side. Think you just have to put up with it. Try eating loads of sugar will hypen you up.
Yeah-eat haribo or something-that just makes me feel really dizzy and messes up my blood sugar levels! I wish it were that easy...

I find that the emotional stuff is worse when i've not been taking care of my self very well.

If I've been eating well and exercising im not as moody. Shame I don't always keep this up:rolleyes:

Not sure if that helps:confused:
I never had any problems with PMT whatsoever until I started microgen 30. I was actually really low as in depression (which I'd had before but had all gone). I've changed to Yasmin now and so far so good.

As for dealing with it, I don't really know. I would often get annoyed with my boyfriend and then feel guilty and cry. I think the best thing however is keeping busy and moving about. Don't do too much, just enough to keep you occupied.

I'm exactly the same. It really annoys me that you know why you're being really emotional but yet you can't stop it. I'm also on Microgynon 30 but my PMT still isn't as bad as when I wasn't on the pill. If it's really bugging you, and you're on the pill, I'd suggest seeing your doctor about maybe changing and seeing if that helps.

Otherwise, just keep yourself busy and let your boyfriend (if you have one) know that you're being totally illogical for a reason
"Rag rage".

Yeah. There's only one week a month I don't have it.

Ugh I hate PMT. I get really really depressed with mine, and really snappy. Sometimes people just piss me off and I end up having a go at them for no reaosn, they can just be sitting there and they will still annoy me! Also I eat loads as comfort food and that normally makes me feel worse, so its a downwards spiral really.

I had some homeopathy last year for my skin and various other things, but while I was having the treatment, noticed that my PMT was much better and I was much calmer in general. I actually went to see a practising homeopathic doctor but Im sure you could get something in Boots from their herbal range, you might want to try that.

hehe ill be the first guy to post here. Anyway what I Was going to say is my girlfriend occasionaly gets like this. Just gets emotional and I do wish I could understand it more, but lacking the... physical qualities to I cant.

What seems to help her is lots of hugs, reassurance and also chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate.

For some reason, sex helps my PMT. Think it just makes me feel secure if I'm emotional in a weird way. And destresses me if I'm irritatable.
Ok...so what I need is a guy with lots of chocolate  Except that chances are I'll eat too much chocolate then feel sick and guilty and all the best guys are taken...

haha hugs can be from other people not only a boyfriend :P Chocolate is easy, and obviously dont eat so much that you feel sick just enough to make you happy. Either that or ice cream... but dont understand how that one works :P. Belgian Choc ice cream used to be the deal, with chocolate before and after. Watching a film in bed nice and warm cuddling up to me. She used to be a lot better then.

But no boyfriend... got a big teddybear? They will do, well they are warm and nice to hug... (ps doesnt matter how old you are, you have to have a teddy)
I don't need to eat much to feel sick believe me! I have got a big teddy, he sits on my sofa...but its not quite the same is it?

Like i said I dont really know im male. I was just pointing out what my ex liked, and trying to give some helpful advise... and the teddy was an idea for a boyfriend equivilant. Its not going to be the same but its still going to be comforting on some level.
Maybe, thanks for your suggestions anyhoo!
