Interviews for different courses are different, e.g. Medicine to an engineering interview are very different for example.

I probably would go with a blazer and smart trousers. Suit might be 'too formal'

A suit is definitely not too formal for an interview. Just about everyone wears one.

No need for the monocle and the top hat though.

Hello! How did your interview go? Is there a possibility you applied for eie/eee? I had the interview on the same day!
