Idea for making notes on PC

Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I've had an idea for revision that would save me scribbling down workings on little scraps of paper. Would it be possible to use a USB drawing tablet with a program that allows you to make quick notes and erase them?

Has anyone else here had a similar idea, and if you do something like this already, would you have any advice on what tablet or program to use?
