Uncas applications

Have all engineering students sent off their Uncas applications yet? If so what unis and what field of engineering?
It's UCAS, just saying :P . I applied for Chemical Engineering and have received an offer from Manchester.

What grades or predicted grades did you get and was there anything in your application/statement that you think helped to get you the place?

Note: I'm thinking of applying for chemeng and haven't got much for an application yet

What's up! Sorry for the late reply, I've been a bit busy.
My AS grades were AAAAB in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Applied ICT and English respectively. My A2 predicted grades are A*A*A*A in Maths, Chemistry, Physics and Further Maths respectively (my board does not do AS Further Maths, plus I am self-teaching so I could not be predicted an A* for Further Maths). I think what made my PS good was the fact that I tried to sound as genuine as possible. I have done a lot of things related to Engineering.

That's...very good, yh those are the best A-level subjects for Chemical Engineering. Although, is there anything extra-curricular or non-academic that you put down that you think showed passion for ChemEng. Also, what sort of things related to engineering, like placements?...and if so how would one get a placement in engineering because I've heard its hard to get experience in that field.

One more thing, what exam board for Physics did you do and do you have any revision tips for it because I've noticed the pass rate is veeery low and have heard it gets waaay harder in waves and photons (I'm doing OCR AS Physics).

Thanks.
I applied for mechanical engineering at Southampton Nottingham Leeds Newcastle and bath. Got offer from Southampton and invitation to an visit day by Leeds. My AS grades were maths chemistry physics economics - A and ict - D ( did it in year 10/11).
Predicted grades A*AA (maths physics econ) I had done engineering experience so maybe that helped.

Hmm because experience in engineering is hard to get I simply put down stuff I've done which can relate to Engineering. For example, I visited chemical plants, or experimented with fuel cells, or helped as a lab assistant in my school. I am also head boy, and do tons of wider reading (newspapers, books etc.)
I did CIE, which is similar to OCR (international version of it really). Personally, I thought it was the easiest out of Maths, Chemistry and Physics (I didn't revise much and got an A). Just do past papers, and what I think is what can pull your grade up (those 2 or 3 marks lost stupidly which people always claim was the reason they did not get an A) is knowing every definition. They are the ones which can save your grade if you're going to scrape it.

Hey! I applied to Oxford, imperial, Southampton, Leeds and Nottingham. Got an offer from Southampton and imperial has asked for a fee questionnaire to be filled. Also an interview from Leeds! Oxford is general engineering, Southampton is mechanical/Automotive and all the others are mechanical! Can't wait for an offer from imperial!!

Wow, can you now apply to be a sachem of the Mohegan who through his alliance with the English colonists in New England against other Indian tribes made the Mohegan the leading regional Indian tribe in lower Connecticut?

Definitely, definitions are the easiest questions and the easiest answers lost if you don't remember them. I'm going to go over the past papers and make model answers for each paper which should help hopefully.
I don't think there are many engineering companies where I'm from, I'll have to check but will I need to get some kind of experience or will volunteering at a charity shop or something like that boost my application for ChemEng specifically. Also, what sort of procedures did you have to go through to visit the plants or did you just ring up and book a tour or something?

I'm also apply for mechanical engineering! I applied bath, Bristol, imperial, Nottingham and Lancaster! My predicted grades are A*A*AA. I also do maths, physics, econ additionally design and technology too. I had some work experience but I literally sent my ucas off today

I was going to apply to Lancaster then I changed my mind! I may be biased but Southampton is actually better then imperial in the last few years. It's apparently also worldwide known for its engineering! Anyway what part of mechanical engineering you planning to specialise into?? Good luck with your application sure you'll get offers! My predicted grades were A*AA
