Need to respond to student loans company

I have to respond to the Student Loans Company in regards to repayment of my loans as soon as possible, but my employer is taking far too long to produce a letter for me to send off as evidence to how I support myself financially. To put things into context, my employer is a small company (there is no PAYE reference number or anything like that), I'm on a zero hour contract and I earn minimum wage (by cash in hand).

As a "back-up", I'm considering asking my former job adviser to compose a letter (on my employer's behalf) instead, since my job adviser was the one who made me aware of my employer's job opportunity.

I just want to ask if this would be an appropriate alternative? Thanks.

You could maybe supply a copy of your contract and your last few bank statements showing your wages being paid in.

When in doubt, phone the SLC and ask them what they need in your situation. Zero hour contracts and small businesses are very common, so they should be able to advise.
