When you've liked a guy for ages and find out they have a girlfriend

The title says it all really - it's so annoying!! I guess there's nothing you can do really cos you wouldn't want to break someone up. Without asking or it getting into conversation, how do you tell if someone's single? It's such a minefield. :mad:

Yes it can be annoying but there are so many guys out there who are single, the key is not to rush, usually you find out whether they are single or not when you are just having a casual conversation with them.

it takes the utter fizz! i've been there, done that sooo many times before. it hurts, but the best way you can find out if they're taken is just ask em casually, eg hows yer mrs? and then they'd either deny having one or say 'shes alright' or something.

i ask girls before i go any further... i hate interfering in people's relationships... no matter how much i like the girl... its painful, yes... but thats the way life is

They'll usually tell you, or drop the girlfriend into a conversation.

On the other hand, a friend of mine says that since all the good men are taken, you need to poach one of you want one :wink:

You shouldn't have to ask. Unwritten rule is that you should slip the fact that you have a gf/bf into conversation pretty early on when talking to anyone who might be interested in you.

If you've known a guy for a while and he's not even mentioned his gf you've gotta question how serious that relationship is.

my problem is as well my face is too expressive - if i like a guy but then he says something about a girlfriend my face just drops! i need to work on my happy face :smile:

A lot of my friends are guys and I meet other guys through them. I normally know either from my mates, or seeing the guy with his ladyfriend, if a guy is single or not.

If you really like a guy and he is taken please don't try to steal him. One of my friends goes for any guy she likes, whether he's taken or not, and I don't think it's very nice.

Its more annoying when they are single, you like him, he likes you (you both know it), you have a stupid misunderstanding and then he goes off with someone else...now if that isnt enough to piss you off then what is? Oh and its taken me the best part of 9 months to move on, party because when hes in trouble about anything, he comes to me, and it just reminds me of how much I cared(and still do) about him :redface:

what kills me tho is if a girl likes someone, he tells her he has a gf...then she proceeds to be an utter b*tch to the gf....
where is the rationality in that?
