things to destress?

but 1 of the main causes of my recent stress levels are, overworking myself (i dont like to waste time.. as im 2 years behind what i should be academicly)
another reason, is due to the hours i am at college, and at work. (and current crappy friends) i dont see much of any one (my gf has really annoying perants, and i can hardly eva see her)

I did try to get back in the swing of going to the gym, but the cost of it all scared me away, so i tried looking around for a cheaper gym.. but all this is time consuming, and i need that excerise to lower my stress levels.

The money i am getting now (finaly) is just a weekend job (15hr), but its late hours (till 3am) and crappy pay. (bar work)... so that kinda add's a little, but i REALLY need the money, so i cant stop for my stress levels :P

Is there much i can do about my stress then, taking in account with what i have to cope with, (other small nusences that add up aswell). Stress every now n again, starts to really over load...

apart from the gym thing, what else can i do? (taking in account, money is an issue)

I sometimes find that every so often, as wel as shower, just sit in a hot steamy bath of radox, which really relaxes the muscles and the smells are really nice .

I tend not to do it too often and just shower instead, so that the effect of the radox is more when i do...
maybe try yoga? or lying on the grass in the park where there might be fresh air?
hope that helped

I was just about to suggest having a hot bath with radox!! They have a wide variety of products, loads for relaxing and destressing yourself! Bubble bath and showel gel etc! So nice  Also, try using an anti-stress face mask and just lying down and relaxing! Exercise is good too as you know, do you have to join a gym though? Why not do exercise at home or go for a jog regularly? Buy an exercise dvd, i have Jordan's workout dvd! A one off payment and you're sorted  just need the motivation to keep it up! Hope that helps x

Maybe you should get a job in a supermarket? I get £5.55 normal rate per hour and £8.02 per hour on a Sunday - usually Tesco, Sainsbury's and M&S offer this. That means you wouldn't have to work as many hours. Try get family and friends to look out for vacancies.

If working is affecting your grades get a student loan and maybe do a gap year to pay it off and gain experience. You are never behind as mature students are doing courses these days.

Why not join a council gym (discounts for students) and invite your girlfriend too as you get to see her and avoid her parents. Try head massages and massage your temple and stress points on your forehead, as your gf for a massage.

I find just taking some time out helps. Especially when I'm stressed about something - I can take the time to think things through and then realise that things aren't that bad really.
Walking's good, but last time I had something on my mind (guy troubles) it took about 6hrs before I was fine. (And yes it was a very long walk).
Yoga's good
Baths are over-rated but showers are lovely - nice long warm ones.
Green tea
Sleeping
Sometimes eating an apple

Oooh I remember - walking in the park or under trees (but only in summer) and if you're ever in London, sitting under a tree in Hyde Park watching all the skaters or strolling through Kensington Gardens and watching the squirrels is pretty good.

I have fairly high stress levels leeming and i have a few tips on what can help:

- take walks near water, a lake or the sea maybe? it has a calming influence on you and the sound of the sea is really soothing.
- Get rid of that job mate, 3am is a bad time to finish as you wont get good sleep and if you have weekend schoolwork you will be more stressed on sunday coping with all that work to do, you may struggle to concentrate on that if you get home early. Lots of sleep is good for beating stress.
- If you run into problems, think of solutions to the problem rather than focusing on the problem itself.
- Get yourself into routines of doing things, it doesn't matter what it is and it keeps yourself occupied.
- Also dont think of yourself as educationally "behind", theres no such thing as that. You will reap the benefits as you will have had more time to focus on areas than others and ultimately get the rewards in the future.
- Have a quiet area where you can go in times of stress/anxiety, compose yourself and then return to "normal" with your problems solved.
- I recommend Paul McKenna, "change your life in 7 days" its a book with an audio CD and its great! the CD relaxes you properly and the book is great to combat stress, it helped me no end.
Anyway good luck and i hope i have helped.

According to the newspaper clipping pinned on my wall, the following are good for your mental health:

chocolate
apples
bannanas
fish
nuts
red wine
broccolli
brown rice
eggs
celery

I can vouch for chocolate, apples and fish.

Red wine seems to make me a little light headed though...

If you have a car, i can release stress so quickly behind the wheel! Probably bad for other road users but meh...i'm the one in a stressy mood, feck them!

Go sailing or sit by a river/water

Play a violent game...like rugby/American Football (if your a p.ussy)

Listen to Heavy Metal followed by calming music like Enya or Mozart.

Here endeth thy listen on stress.

I always find music relaxing. Pepe Romero performing Bach - especially 'Partita for Violin Solo in D Minor' - never fails to calm me down.
