Calculating the difference how did they get 55%? Watch

There's this quick question

The mark scheme says for A it's 5% and for B it's 60%, (meaning there's a 55% difference). How do you get this answer?

And if you're feeling helpful could you please help me with 6d?

The mark scheme says: but I don't know how you would actually do it because I'm terrible at maths!




1. 52.1% survived without replacement compared to 12.1% / difference of 40%;
2. 10.9% required repair or replacement of artificial heart compared to 41.4% / difference of 30.5%;
3. 37% died compared to 46.6% / difference of 9.6%

If you look at the graph, 60% of people don't have diarrhoea after 1 day in Solution B compared to only 5% of people with Solution A. 60-5 = 55.

Read across to one day then read up till you reach line A and line B. On the Y axis each line is worth five. So if you read across A you get 5 and then if you read across B you get 60. 60-5 = 55.
You just have to read the graph and only look at the number 1 on the days.

For number 1 you do 62/119 * 100 which is 52.1 then 7/58 * 100 which is 12.1 then 52.1-12.1 to get 40%.

Do the same calculation for the other two columns to get the numbers in 2 and 3.
