It'll get better, give it time.Unlucky to have your phone stolen. I think everyone expects uni to be a bundle of laughs from day one. Sometimes it is but more often people feel a bit miserable, get ill, homesick etc. You're doing the rightthing by going out to meet people. If you live in halls leave your door open so people can pop in or say hello as they go past and you do the same. Give it a weejk and you'll feel completely different about the place.

That's not nice whats happened to you someone stealing your phone, shows the immaturity and stupidity of some people, they shouldn't be in Uni.

Just out of interest though is that De Montfort in Leicester or Bedford?

University and freshers week is rather over-hyped to be honest. My advice would be to push yourself to become a bit more involved - those people you know must be in sometimes, and when they are, find out where they're going or what they're doing. As much as you may not feel like it, you need to make sure you don't stay in your room and feel down; this will further fuel your depression and make it even more difficult to get out.

yeh i go out as often as i can even if im on my own i suppose it can only get better

To me it sounds like it's your own fault. You have to learn that you're not a child any longer and have to take responsibility for your own actions.

I doubt it. I theorise you collapsed out of sheer drunkenness.

Low blood pressure  how the hell did that happen?

Do you have meals in the canteen or do you self cater? If you're in the canteen you can make a point of sitting near someone on their own and just make a few passing comments. There's nothing more depressing than realising you haven't actual spoken to anyone all day. You don't have to view everyone as possible lifelong friends, just exude a general friendly air to everyone and you'll seem very approachable. It takes time to work out who you do actually want to be friends with.

Im sorry but low blood pressure can happen, i have low blood pressure constantly so why do people always judge, just because she collasped does not mean she was drunk, it could have just been medical.

To OP:- don't worry too much things will get easier at least you are living in thus you can make more friends and go out more without having to worry too much.
