Q. How do I register? (UK candidates and International candidates)
A. BMAT participating universities regard it as the responsibility of the candidate to make sure they are registered for BMAT whether you are applying from within the UK or abroad.
For reference, an 'Open' centre as referred to below, is one that is willing to administer the BMAT to external candidates.
If you live within the UK and are not attached to a School/College you should consult the students section of the BMAT website. Here you can click onto 'List of Open Centres' where you will be able to search for an 'Open' centre by City. If you are unable to find a centre reasonably near you then you should contact us on 01223 553366 and we will endeavour to help you.
If you live abroad and need to sit the BMAT, as with candidates within the UK you should consult the students section of the BMAT website where you will find a section called 'List of Open Centres'. Here you will be able to search by Country and find a centre that will administer the BMAT for you. (A centre is a School/College/British Council where you can sit the test.) It is likely you may have to sit the BMAT at a British Council, this is not unusual. If you are unable to find a centre near you then please contact us on +44(0) 1223 553366 or e-mail the BMAT Support Team at
[email protected] and we will do our best to find one for you. The responsibility of finding a centre is yours; you will need to contact your chosen centre directly to make your entry. All further questions and answers in this section also apply to you.
If you are registering at an ‘Open’ centre you should be prepared to be asked for some form of identification such as your birth certificate or driving licence on registration and/or on the day of the test.
It is important that you give the centre/British Council making your entry, your full name, date of birth, gender, the Institution (University) you are applying to and the course code. The course code is very important. The centre may also ask for your contact details (address, telephone number and email address) in order to forward your BMAT results.
On registering your entry you should ask for your BMAT Number which you may need when completing your UCAS application form. You must get your BMAT Number from the centre as it is our policy not to give these numbers out over the telephone or by email and it is your confirmation that your entry has been made.
