Hello!

I have a BA degree in Finance and during uni I took a Foundations of Programming elective, which I really enjoyed.
I really regret going for a finance degree. I also do not like the financial sector and I want to switch towards IT.

Has anyone done the MSc Software Development at Glasgow University ?
I think this is for students who do not have a computing background.

What do you think about this course? Is it any good or a waste of time? I know the basics of programming, as I've done Java and C++.

I'm also thinking if it's worth doing another bachelor in Software Engineering. I could try to enter in 2nd year so I would study for 3 years in Scotland.
I'm worried that I would waste a lot of time if I were to do another bachelor.

What do you guys think? Should I go for a MSc Software Development aimed at people who do not have a computing background or do BSc Software Engineering?

I'm worried about job prospects as well. Two bachelors might look weird on my CV.

Hey, just giving this thread a little bump in the hopes someone will see it and reply

Have you found University Connect yet? It's super useful for finding other people on your course/at your university!

Hi!

Thanks for that website. I didn't know about it, but it seems really good.

As far as I can tell my alternatives could be these

1) MSc Software Development (conversion course) + MSc Software Engineering/CS which I could do after the conversion course.
Each lasts 1 year
In total I would spend 2 years on this

2) BSc Software Engineering/CS + MSc Software Engineering
If I go for entry into second year, it would take me a total of 4 years

What do you think? Would option 1) have the same value as option 2) job wise? The main different is that I would do a one year MSc conversion course instead of 3-4 years of BSc

No point spending so much time of your life when you will learn most of it on the job.
