Im going to Cuths and staying at Parsons Field:Fontyn Court to be precise. Just wondering if I need to bring blankets nad linen and pillows and pillow cases and all that jazz
O and while on the topic of wat to bring...ive decided on clothes, laptop, moblie, ipod and associated chargers towels and probably lots and lots of chocolate! Anything else?
No no no......at Parson's Field at Cuths you get a brand new duvet and 2 pillows (not feather....also quite thin so you may want to bring another one!), bed linen, and a few towels/flannel/and a bath mat.....so no need to bring your own! It's all new each year
OK fine to ask this quesion - BUT please don't start asking what you should take! It's bloody DECEMBER!!!!!
There's still another about 10 months to go before you MIGHT go to Durham, and by that time you will have forgotten about what we tell you now. Please wait until the summer when you have your confirmed university to ask what to bring....as it will differ between universities!!
Also, on the topic of linen - do you know that of our residence charge, for the colleges which provide linen - £72 is made up of the whole linen stuff?!?!?!! I wish I had to take my own now because I certainly wouldn't spend bloody £72 a year on washing my linen. I'd probably spend about £5 a year (yes! that's 5 washes a year, I'd be happy with that!)
Quelle surprise, another example of Durham Uni screwing over its students for as much money as humanly possible. Perhaps they'll start charging for air next.
So far as I recall, part of the residence charge negotiation discussed abolishing the linen charge across all colleges. Not sure what happened with that in the end...
Wtf? We don't get linen, just a couple of measly pillows and a limp duvet. I want my £72.
In Trevs we get 2 good pillows (no joke, they are bloody nice pillows!) with pillowcases, mattress cover and a good quilt with a quilt cover - which is the worst part because they are pretty crappy colours!
It used to be (in my first year) that they got washed once a week, but now it's a new system and you can actually get clean sheets on Mon, Tues, Weds and Thurs which is pretty good (if you happen to use your sheets for a fancy dress costume )
So the £72 is going towards the linen provision as well as the cleaning of it. Although it annoys me as I could pay much less, I would feel really bad if cleaners started being made redundant because we brought our own linen instead
