Closest Supermarket to Halls?

I dont actually know Portsmouth city well...
Well when I move in on Saturday I wont be bringing food and some other equipment so that means I have to buy food and some equipment...thats where I need all your help...
Where is the closest supermarket and what are the walking distance from Harry Law Halls?
Is the closest GunWharf Quays?

It might be tescos up commercial road.
Actually, i'm certain. Gunwharf quays is a mission to go for shopping.

Commercal road is near the station, which is about 2 minutes walk away from harry law/bateson.

Well, it's not that far to gun wharf quays, but that's more a shopping mall rather than supermarkets, and the quick response is due to me having nothing much else to do at half 1. :smile:

As for James watson, It might be tescos again. There is a co-op near the station... at least I think it's co-op. But i'm not sure... I never knowingly passed james watson. Or maybe I did, and i'm being dense.

Either way, I say tescos.

Tesco is pretty much your best bet from any of the Guildhall Halls. Although saying that, prepare for some very sore arms if you're walking back to Traf with a couple of 24-packs of beer! :wink:

Yeah Tesco is the closest, for pretty much all of the halls actually. There's a Waitrose in Southsea, but it's quite a long walk... and rather expensive.

Gunwharf is only about 10 - 15 minutes from Harry Law, not that far really. :cool:

all of the guildhall halls will be closest to tesco, there's also a spar just by the station/top of the guildhall and a balfour under the union for milk/bread etc

For local shops in Guildhall,

Margaret Rule, Bateson and Harry Law are closest to Spar.
Trafalgar are closest to the Co-op (Avoid the crazy people who come out at night!)
James Watson is closest to Balfour in the Union.

Tesco's is the closest supermarket, but Trafalgar and JW are probably going to get sore wrists. Also, JW residents suffer a lot more when they bring back 5 bags from Tesco's only to find someone's broken the lift in their block, so you have to go up the stairs..
