They do cross over in areas and it would be possible I guess, so long as the teachers are helping you as well and you put in a fair bit of work. When I learnt it we did the exam in January so it didn't take too long for us to learn. But some of C2 does rely on some C1 content so it would obviously be better to learn it sooner rather than later. Your best bet would be to talk to your teachers and see what they say about it

To understand C2 properly, you need to understand C1. There is no way around it. It is not as if the work will be impossible without it, but you should note that the questions will assume C1 knowledge.

Did your school forget how to count :P Last I checked 1 comes before 2 xD I genuinely can't get my head around why they would do that. There may be a few topics that can be taught independent of C1 like geometric series possibly, but I honestly don't see what benefit they think that will bring.
