Whiskey, lots of whiskey.

Make sure you get lots of sleep these next few days. You'll need it.

Remember that most other students will be feeling the same. It's just a question of how well they hide their nerves. And try to turn fear into excitement - new town! New people! and all that. No-one is going to hate you for being a bit shy at the beginning.

Just remember there's nothing to be scared of! I start on saturday too. I'm going to offer out cups of tea

I'm scared too. And everyone says the best plan is to invite people in for a cup of tea, but I don't drink tea! I am incapable of making a drinkable cup of tea, so I can't even invite people in and give them tea. Anyone I do invite in I'm likely to poison, and I don't want to kill off all my new friends in the first week...

Seriously, just go up and say hi nice to meet you! I myself am very very very quiet and have next to no confidence..I wouldn't have got through my frshers week without doing that! Good luck!

Get drunk. Solves most problems.

I couldn't wait to get to university, had been a boarder for 10 years and had a general dislike of living with my parents. Can't be homesick if I instantly adopt where I live as home.

im going on saturday as well and my plan is to break it into chunks, nstead of thinking about waht a big move etc it is, just focus on 1. registering
2. unpacking
3. taking stuff into kitchen
Im hoping that if i am just focussed on doing one thing i wont be worrying too much and meeting new people will happen naturally anyway.
Just enjoy yourself, it will be abit scary art first but im sure we will be fine!
