# AQA Further Maths - General advice needed

I am self studying maths, for fun.

I've just about got to the end of M2 and really enjoy mechanics and was thinking of doing M3. However, in this last chapter of M2, I've come across Differential Equations that used substitution. This twist to DEs wasn't in C4 and I'm wondering what Further Pure I should be doing to make sure I can fathom M3. I've got through FP1 and it wasn't in there.

Thanks.

FP3 is the answer but there should be no substitutions in M2.

the question you did earlier is almost certainly from an older syllabus. The current M2 only has very simple ODEs with separation of variables.

Hi

Thanks for that.

The book that I am using, which is an AQA book for M2, has an end-of-chapter question that requires substitution so I expected to need that technique.

So FP3 next.

The book might have a question but the current M2 exam will not.
However if you are planning to do FP3 anyway, then I guess there is no harm.
