Moles

Well, this must be a first - me actually asking for some advice.

You probably wont be telling me anything I haven't already read/heard before but i'm at that panicky irrational stage and I just need to let this out..

Last week I was out having lunch with my fiancé when he asked for a tissue and he had his hand on his stomach, I asked what was wrong and he showed me his t shirt, it had blood stains on it. I was shocked and he said 'oh it's probably just a spot or something' I asked to look and it was coming from a mole on his stomach.

At first I was just embarrassed for him as he was wearing a white top but when I started thinking about why it was bleeding I panicked again, bleeding moles surely aren't good?! especially as dodgy moles are usually the first signs of skin cancer.

So I sent him to the doctors, today was the earliest he could get in. The doctorwants to remove it and send it to a lab, he says it's probably nothing but it can't hurt to be safe. I know I shouldn't worry but if it was nothing he wouldn't want to remove it surely?

I don't know what anyone can say really, Perhaps i'm just looking for a similar story from someone or just need to be calmed down!

Thanks anyway x

If a mole looks dodgy they'll remove it as a precaution. I really wouldn't worry, he probably just scratched it or something which started it bleeding.

Yeah I guess, he can't remember scratching it or whatever and he was sat down when it just randomly happened. Gosh i'm a worrier!

I bet it's fine, it was probably accidental that he scratched it and didn't even notice! Or maybe he just caught it on something  Don't worry!

I am very pale with lots of freckles and moley things, and I went to the 'skin clinic' afternoon at my local doctors, where they checked every single one for visible warning signs of cancer, and they then removed 3/4 skin tags for free. Not a bad service really

Once he's been to the doctors for this one, maybe you could ask if they do a skin clinic day and he could have them all checked? Might put both your minds at rest...

Moles can be scratched or irritated very easily - I used to have one on my hip that kept on getting scratched by the waistband of my jeans, so went to the doctor to get it removed.

I wouldn't worry - he probably caught the mole on something, and the doctor's checking just to be really really safe.

Best of luck x
