father figures

why do people especially young people look for father figures?, maybe not go looking for it but develop these feelings espesh when they already have a father?

is it normal and 'ok' to see someone as a father figure?
for example a girl seeing a male teacher as a father figure? defo not fancying him, but seeing him as someone to look up to and ask advice off of.

i have a dad, but i see this teacher as a father figure. i dont have a crush on him, but i think the world of him. im just confused cos i didnt go looking for a father figure, and these feelings just developed. it wont go away, i dont even know if its 'ok' to feel this way, and if the teacher will be ok with how i feel for him, if i say something. i have loads of respect for him.

looking up to someone or seeking their opinions on things doesn't mean they're a father figure. The term is over used i think. I look up to both men and women who i perceive as having achieved well in the academic area i am interested in, but it's just admiration nothing paternal/maternal.

well i really do see him as a father figure. i just dont know if hell be 'able' to give me what i 'want. forgive me for sounding selfish if i do, cos of the student/teacher bounderies. i do not fancy him but i guess i dont see my dad much and well i just dont know if its 'ok' to feel this way.

Teachers are important influences in students' lives. I wouldn't say anything to him, he might find it strange. Myb e be when you leave you could tell him how much you appreciate his advice etc.
