Hey, I'm doing GCSE Music and need to perform a song, and I'm a pretty strong soprano singer and am targeted an A*. I need to sing something that counts as a "more difficult" song to be able to reach top marks.

A more difficult song has to consist of at least 5 or more of the following criteria. So if anyone knows of anyone or has any ideas, suggestions would be appreciated!

Some awkward intervals

Pitch range greater than a 10th

Some complex rhythmic patterns

Some long, sustained phrases
requiring good breath control

Several melismatic sections and/
or fast passages requiring clear
enunciation

General dynamic contrasts
including some gradation of
dynamics

A range of articulation required

More than one modulation or
modulation to more distant key

Solo line often exposed/much
interplay between parts

I did GCSE music (although wasn't at your level of singing).

Maybe a song from a musical?
E.g. Defying Gravity from Wicked

Sorry its all I can come up with rihht now, but if I can think of anymore I'll let you know :-)

Thank you! I have considered that one as an option actually, so it might end up being that one in the end just trying to get as many options as possible to make sure I get the right song!
