I just woke up and i can see blood all over my pillow and looked in the mirror to see that the blood dried up in my ear region. is there something wrong with me cause im gettin pretty afraid and im worried if I wake up it may happen again. (I got caught by an elbow in football yesterday, but it didn't hurt me that much)

Erm, I would go to A&E. Seriously. Have you seen Not Another Teen Movie? :|

It could be the injury or it could be an infection. Either way I'd see the doctor

Wash the dry blood away carefully and get someone to have a look at where its coming from. May just be from the outer parts of the ear, so nothing serious.

Go to your GP and don't leave it too long. If it's something serious you need to get it checked out quickly.

thats the thing i had someone to check but there was no kind of injury on my actual ear. the blood was actually coming from the inside and thats what really making me afraid

If that's true I actually don't know what you're still doing reading this. Call a cab/ambulance and go to the hospital. Stop mucking about.

Not to scare you or anything, but my high school bio teacher once told us about some guy that was cleaning his ear out with a toothpick , he somehow managed to pierce his ear canal and hit an artery. Died soon after.

What is it with teachers? Every teacher has at least 1 horror story.

Anyway dont worry I'm sure if you'd done that you'd have felt it.

You can still hear all right? If so, at least that means your ear drum is probably OK. Good luck, hope it's nothing serious.

There might be something completely reasonable that is causing the bleeding, check your ear first, it could be a small cut.

However, if you cannot see any sort of source of the bleeding, or it is internal, then go to A&E asap.

Yup the OP already said that they got someone to check that the blood was indeed coming from inside the ear.

Hmm it's only been half hour since they said they were about to go to hospital!

This happened to me way back in primary school, I got taken to the GP and it was just that somthing like a blister in my inner ear had burst. It wasn't much to worry about, it just looked pretty dramatic and got me time off school

Still, good idea getting it checked out.

I was watching one of those A&E programmes a while ago and a woman came in with blood pouring out from her eyes , ears and nose. It turned out that all she had was a nose bleed but she put so much pressure on it from pinching it to stop the bleeding that the blood went back up and into the sinuses or tubes (or something) that connects the ears eyes and nose and throat...

phew it wasn't something really serious! The doc said I had spot (a real large one) inside my ear and it was healing up. Thanks anyway for the advice
