Economics, St. Catherines?

I am planning to apply to Cambridge to study Economics next year. I’m taking A Levels in Economics, Maths, Physics, and Psychology, and am predicted to achieve four A’s. Additionally I have 8 A*’s and 3 A’s at GCSE, as well as sum extra curricular activities such as Young Enterprise and School councillor. I will also be looking to gain some related work experience in the summer.
Do you think that I realistic chance of gaining a place, and if so, which college should I apply to? I would like to go somewhere with a good reputation which is not overly academic. Coming from a state school it is also important that there is a balance between state and independent school students. I was thinking about St. Catherine’s?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Nobody here can tell you that you're capable of gaining an offer from Cambridge. Your GCSE and Alevel results are fine, and you sound committed, but other than that, you won't know until next year until you have the letter in hand.

I know but people who have already applied must have a general opinion

That you will get an interview like the other 99% of candidates, and that you should definitely give it a try, yes.

Best of luck.

St Catharine's would be a good choice; just make sure you spell it correctly on your application form! (I had to get another form and start over)
Apparently St Catz has been stupidly over-subscribed for economics in the past two years. I had considered applying there for a while, but seeing the applicant to acceptance ratios soon put an end to that, the competition is simply too fierce. Surprisingly, Trinity has a better ratio than many colleges for economics, and I'm seriously considering applying there now.

wat other colleges can u reccommend which have good reputations but aren't heavily over subscribed?

Someone from my school applied to catz for economics, with reasonable GCSE results (not as good as yours) and AABB at AS-level (maths, physics, economics, german). He was financial director for his young enterprise company.

he got pooled.

So I'd say you have a chance, as long as you are enthusiastic and interview well. Go for it! (I'm a little biased though as I got an offer from catz this year)
