Drifting apart?

Ok, he is my story, a bit sad perharps, but oh well!

So I have been talking to this guy online for almost 9 months. We have never met in "real" life. We became really good mates and used to talk ALOT online. Lately, about 2 months ago, our conversations have been drifting apart, and all we say is hi to each other and usually he just signs off without saying anything. We almost did meet up, but then I made up some excuse about how we can meet up later on once we get to know each other well. Obviously not in a relationship sort of way, but as good "buddies" He is/was really great and we used to chat for ages, but now its like "the magic has disappeared"? Any advice?

P.S. Yes, I know you're probably thinking that it is stupid, but oh well:rolleyes:

maybe he found someone in his, as you put it, 'real life' and realised that online chatting doesnt mean **** and is quite pointless? Have you actualy heard his voice or anything? he could be a 45 year old paedo posing as someone ur age, and as soon as u said no to meeting, he thought forget it? just a thought

Maybe time to get over it and find someone proper in your 'real life'.

how old are you, if you dont mind me asking? obviously if your not of a going out age, then it will be tough to go out and meet people, but if you are, please get out there, dont sit at your comp hoping to have an online relationship.

maybe he feels exactly the same way. It's up to one of you to take the lead and start talking and if he doesn't seem interested then that will be that i suppose.

i've been in that situation a few too many times, and during those times it does hurt because you think about how well you both knew each other and how you could just be yourself around each other.

i've still never understood why they get bored from talking after 9 months, but put it this way, i'm sure you have some mint friends you actually have met.

now i just try and keep a distance from tinternet friends; i just seem to expect the worst.

My opinion?

You've talked too much.

PS: There are no such thing as pointless internet friendships, internet friendships can end up being better than your real life friendships. As in real life, your forced to be friends with people your living around and getting aquainted. Where as on the internet, if you don't click you don't even talk in the first place after the first conversation. Your personalities will usually match a little if you can talk to someone on the net.

So OP, whatcha think? Do you think you've talked too much?

yeh thats fair enough i agree with you on that part, but iv written the original bit about pointless relationships under the impression that it was heading or she wanted it to head that way (ie boyfriend/girlfriend). If so then yeh its totally pointless, nothing nicer in the world than to put ur arms around the one you are in a relationship with and love, something which cannot be done, obviously over the net.

having said that, if you dont click with people face to face, you still dont have to talk to them or initiate first conversation? same sort of scenario even in real life.
