UK- An White and Black Country?

After being born and raised in London I started to realise as an young South Asian male that there is no room for us in this society.

South Asian people get negatively represented and we are never to be seen in the arts and craft industry?

More and more Black people have greater opportunities succeeding in the mainstreams of society...

What are you're thoughts?

Indians perform above average in the UK - they do better in school than whites, they get better jobs, they have higher incomes, and they are well integrated into both society and British culture.

Pakistanis/Bangadeshis are a problem, but the idea that "South Asians" have it bad is just empirically not true.

UK- A White and Black Country?* Just thought I'd fix the thread title lol

Where in South Asia?

In regards to the actual Q. Depends where you live. You'll have different opinions depending on your environment, no?

Ditch the more extreme aspects of Islam, learn to integrate (like the Indians have), stop having large families with 3+ children which results in poverty (around 70% of Pakistani/Banglaeshi families in the UK live in poverty [1] yet they have the largest families of any major ethnic group), pay more attention to educating your children at home so they arent hugely behind when they start primary school [2], stop inbreeding (around 70% of Pakistanis in the UK marry their own cousin [3]), etc

Basically look at what British Indians have done, and copy them, because they are a model minority. Or look at other UK muslim communities like Arabs/Kurds/Turks/Persians, all of whom have been far, far better at adjusting to the UK than Pakistanis/Bangladeshis.

At least in professional fields, most of them are Indian. Very few are P/B.

This is rubbish. I wouldn't say British Indians have it perfect either. At the end of the day, can any White or Black person tell the difference between an British Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi? British Indians get racial abuse too, you know. And look at the UK media representation of India in general. Ignorant, Simple minded and Neocolonialist. They love to slag India (and by extension, anything to do with India, including US) off at every opportunity.

On a specific point, I'd say British Indians don't really care that much about UK media/arts representation because of things like Bollywood. We get represented there racially and culturally, so there's less need to get so worked up about whether UK media is representing us properly (which they aren't by the way).

Still, I get your point in general. Personally, I think British Indians (Asians) should be exempt from the license fee, since OUR money goes towards funding things like Downton Abbey and Doctor Who too, which represents White/Black Brits well, pander to Americans who pay nothing in, but the best British Indians (Asians) will get is a small 5-min cameo from Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Blacks in the UK are getting more respect, because the UK is becoming more Americanized and African Americans get plenty of representation on our screens. That's influencing society here too. Brown people get as little/negative representation there, as they do here.

Tbh, we're aware of all these things, we just don't care that much. We're doing alright in general, regardless. The confidence of a civilization on the ascent.

you make me sick the way you say southern asians have no place in western society.

just because you're socially inept and a failure of a person doesnt mean you can use your races an excuse to paint the rest of us with the same brush, and pretend you have any credibility doing so.

southern asians in the UK are doing great for themselves in every industry there is, they make great money and integrate well with other races believe it or not. do yourself a favour and step outside if you want to see it.

i just say give it time for integration that is going to happen eventually and inevitably. some families get it quicker than others. once british born pakistanis and bangladeshis raise their own families it will be a different story. already more and more pakistanis and bangladeshis are becoming less religious.

out of most ethnic groups pakistanis and bangladeshis have been here the shortest amount of time. indians have been here longer.

I have actually seen the opposite.........there are a few here and there that do leave.....however I have seen a huge difference between the new generation and the older ones, them being far less cultural, more willing to mix with other ethnic groups and are far more religious.
As well as an increase in income, large amounts of medics and dentists, etc coming through the system are Pakistani and Bangladeshi.

Nonsense, there are plenty of P/B in banking and accountancy.

Asians are over represented in UK society.

I think that was perfectly said

I agree too
I've always wondered this. There's far more Asians in the UK yet you'd rarely see any in the media.
