History at Peterhouse or Trinity Hall

Hi. I've applied for Peterhouse but am panicking that I have made the wrong choice - I'm hearing mixed views. I still have maybe three days to change my mind. I'm looking for something small and friendly, good for History, and favourable in terms of getting a place. Trinity Hall? Or stick with Peterhouse? Or what about an open application?

Please help.

What's made you think you've made the wrong choice?

As far as Peterhouse goes, it is definitely small and friendly and it is known as the 'history college'. Also it does tend to get overlooked by applicants, so your chances getting in are as good as any.

And we don't have exams in the first year

But what are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

You should realise that there aren't really enough clear differences between colleges for it to be easy for anyone to reel off a list of advantages and disadvantages when presented with two for comparison. If you're getting bad vibes about one college, then change as you won't have your heart in the application, but to be honest it doesn't really matter. What have you heard about Peterhouse that's putting you off? Then perhaps people could either reassure you, or confirm your fears!
Peterhouse is small and good for History but I didn't think it was favourable in terms of getting a place.

What about Girton?

Okay - Peterhouse is great. But what is the test like for History? Anywhere that doesn't do it?
