I think that's a fairly random comparison.

No way is LMH a better college than Magdalen.

Rah rah rah.

And so on.

I think it's not unusual to feel 'grass is greener on the other side' at this point. Don't worry about it, in a week's time you'll feel nothing like that at all.

That's a very random comparison. In objective terms, Magdalen is certainly the better college of the two (n.b. I have no connection to either!). Stop being silly.

Very unusual for any non-LMH person to feel that way. I go to LMH and have to admit that Magdalen seems to have better facilities and nicer grounds (one of the colleges I would admit that about since the LMH gardens are awesome).
Location wise is totally dependent on personal opinion. Magdalen is on the outskirts of the city centre centre whereas LMH is a little further out (and I do mean a little, it's probarbly closer than most colleges to the university departments and not much further than Magdalen to places such as the Westgate). However LMH is in a nicer, quieter part of oxford by the university parks, which make for an awesome walk to lectures.
Also, this is totally based on personal opinion and experience but LMH seems far more laid back, open and friendly both amongst the student and senior body than other colleges round oxford. To me this is the most important factor and best thing about LMH. However since I don't have a massive personal experience with regard to Magdalen I can't make a particularly objective comparison.

It's pretty obvious that Lady Margaret Hall is better than Magdalen, just look at any alphabetical list of colleges and see which comes first.

Just for the record, I have no doubt over Magdalen's superiority over LMH. My elder sister went to LMH, and this thread was her idea of a good joke - she has a warped sense of humour. Who on earth (other than prehaps an LMHer) could consider LMH be better?

Your sister is a fine judge of college!

i agree with you on this Crazy Dan. remember when we went to Merton playing pool? were playing those arsey types who kept bickering about that superb safety me and Big Easy pulled off and they consulted the rule book god knows how many times and just to shut them up we ended up re-racking?

Shh.... don't call me Crazy Dan, especially not in the coming week.

Tbh 99% of the time the best college is the one you go to. Although 96% of the time you'd be wrong.

I thought people who went to Oxford were never wrong:confused:

You have much to learn. Although, its better than Cambridge, where they believe they are always right...
Reply 13
What does that make someone if they went to both?

probably a person with post-grad qualifications...

While we're on the subject of making silly comparisons:

An Oxford man walks down the road as if he owns it. A Cambridge man walks down the road as if he doesn't care who owns it.

What about Jesse?

Or even myself... I only have a BA, which isn't a postgrad qualification. Plus, my course at Oxford is technically an undergraduate one, even though my college considers me as a grad student.

It's good that you're going to Magdalen then.

...or did you want something more from this thread?

PS. Can't call you crazy dan? I never knew you as anything but! (Steve's fault, I swear) Trying to shake the moniker?
