Did your piercer not give you instructions for how to look after it? The ring looks tiny on it, is there even enough space for if your ear swells?

Oooh your ear looks quite swollen. I remember when I had mine pierced it does take time. I used hot water to soothe the pain and tried quite hard to avoid sleeping on my left lol. Took about a month for the pain to subside but it was worth it  lol x

If thats your ear the ring looks far too small for the swelling may help changing to a larger one.
Dont mess about with it or twist it round this could delay healing. Try giving it a salt soak about twice a day.

Yeah peircer did give instructions but all he was talking about was cleaning it with a cotton bud, i didnt think to ask at the time wether i should like lift it up or spin it around a bit.

Im intending on getting a bigger ring for it sometime, but obviously cant change the peircing for quite awhile yet.

My Pinna didn't hurt at all, how odd. Just wash it in salt water, it should swell down soon, the same as any cartilidge piercing.

That's not a pinna piercing either. Pinna is at the other side of the ear. You need a bigger ring.

Firstly that's not called a pinna piercing. That is a helix piercing, helix is the term for a piercing through the rim of cartilage on the ear. Pinna is not a type of piercing at all. Pinna is the name for the part of the ear exterior to the body (ie all the bits of ear you see). Technically all ear piercings are pinna piercings, but people usually refer to them by their specific names; rook, helix, tragus..etc.

Secondly your piercer has used too small a ring for this piercing. It isn't really large enough to allow for swelling and swelling is a normal, healthy part of the healing process. I would recommend taking an anti-inflammatory painkiller such as ibuprofen. This should allow the swelling to go down a little, if it doesn't go down then you should really go back to the studio and get them to replace the jewellery with a larger circumference of ring. This one is constricting your ear and will probably lengthen your healing time. If the ear swells much more then it could potentially become embedded inside your ear.

Oh and as for aftercare..do as follows:

* Wash your hands thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Pay attention to the fingernails as this is an area where bacteria can be trapped. Never touch your piercing with unwashed hands.
* Using a clean glass make up a sea salt solution which contains one quarter of a teaspoon of sea salt per 8oz (one cup) of distilled warm water.
* If it is possible that your hands became contaminated during the preparation then repeat step one.
* Soak your piercing in the sea salt solution for no more than 10 minutes. It can sometimes be easier to pour some of the solution into a shot glass to dunk your harder to reach piercings in.
* Rinse the piercing using distilled water and a new cotton bud/Q tip. This will remove any discharge and crusties.
* Allow your piercings to air dry. Patting or wiping with a towel can lead to contamination.
* Repeat this cleaning process 2 or 3 times a day for at least the first 6 weeks of your healing time, longer if necessary.
* When removing crusties from your piercing always soak first or use a warm, sterile compress to loosen them first. Just picking them off can cause some damage and lengthen your healing time.

Check out the Body Mod FAQ for further help and ask your piercing Qs there, that way more people will see them.

Some people do call helix piercings pinna though. BJS is one!

And if you have no idea how much 8oz of water is, then another way of making the salt water solution is 1tsp salt to 1pint water

Thanks for the Info Rose. I'll go get some ibuprofen and see if that helps.

There is some room behind my ear in the ring, so its not as jammed in as appears in the pics, but if it dont stop digging in i'll go see a peircer about it.

Dont turn it, fiddle with it as little as possible. Clean it twice daily with hot salf water solution. Half a teaspoon in a mug of hot water should be fine.

www.bodyjewelleryshop.com go on there and click forums. Theres an aftercare forum, plenty info on there.
It looks hot, by the way  I got my conch pierced four months ago and its still giving me hell. One of those really fiddly annoying piercings I guess

had mine done all together 4 times neither time did it hurt

but then again i never had ring in it as someone said the ring looks very small

Bloody hell. That ring looks way too small. Get yourself to a good piercer and have it changed to a barbell. CBRs usually become irritating anyway.
