Would you ever work as a cleaner or is it a 'too low down' job?

I've been a cleaner and while I hated it, I don't think I'm 'too good' or whatever to clean. Both my sister and my mum are full time cleaners and while I'm taking a different path, I'm happy to clean for some extra money.

Too low down. Seems easier to just claim benefits with the amount it pays.

I would if I had to but I don't think it's anyone's dream profession.

I think it would be good as a little job on the side to get you easy money, but if you want to be pushing yourself more i guess it would be better to do something more challenging(ie face to face with customers etc)
I also definitely wouldnt do it as a full time thing. I know i would find it depressing and wouldnt be what id want in life.

Its not "too low down" at all. A job is a job. Most of the time you'll have white people complaining there are no jobs and all the immigrants are taking your jobs bla bla bla & you can't find work but really, there are lots of jobs, you just think you're too good and clever to do them.

I would certainly never consider it beneath me - I've done more than my fair share of minimum wage jobs - but I don't think I would enjoy it in the slightest. Cleaning my own house is bad enough.

You do what you can... You can't be snobby about surviving. A job is a job! Not everyone is greatly fortunate enough to be able to pick and choose their job or career.

I think many on here would be rather highly over qualified (and probably under qualified regarding cleaning experience), to get a job in it. If the job fits the person, then sure. I don't perceive people negatively due to their job though. You would be a bad person if you did!

if I had no other choice - yes.. and without shame at all..

But given that I do have a choice, given my qualifications/work history/experiance etc.., and cant see a scenario that I would not have a choice, in reality - no. its to low for me..

I've been a cleaner and it was ****in' awesome.

Perks:

Can listen to music so you don't have to interact with others

Largely working alone or with other people on your level, not managers so you can:

- Do a half assed job
- Muck around
- Go home early/arrive late

Other young cleaners are largely idiots/slackers, so even the bare minimum will impress.
