My mate is thinking of doing 13 gcses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please give him advice and do u think it is possible for him to get gr8 grades in everything, he works ok, and he thinks art is sooooo easy!

Quite a few in my school did 13, and got mostly A*s, so it's perfectly possible.

Yep. I agree. In my school you could do up to 15. Thought I don't see the reaon for doing excessive amounts, 13 should be fine, it's not that many really.

If your mate can cope with 13 GCSEs then why shouldn't he do them? Art is a talent subject, so you can't really call it easy or hard. :P

why do them? i only did 8 and half and still got offers from warwick durham york bristol bath and interviews for cambridge. work less play more!!!!!!! :smile:

Well I'd imagine there'd be overlap between maths and stats, eng ling and lang feel like the same sbject at GCSE level, triple science is not much more work than double. Art is a lot of work though, so I hope he has a genuine interest in it. I don't know much about photography though, maybe he could incorporate some of that into his art? I don't know. 11 GCSEs is fine, so is 15, so is 9, it really doesn't matter as long as you get a broad range of subjects and do well in them.

GNVQ ICT is pretty pointless, stats again I have said before, archaeology? Thats pretty much not a minastream subject

Not to mention "Enviromental science" which is basically geography before it was renamed. Either that or it is ecology

well i am finishing GNVQ IT this year so next year when i am in year 11 i can take As. and others i just like it becasue it is easy and i like archaeology so why not? about stats, i am good at maths so there is nothing wrong with an extra GCSE.

ok tell him that u only need 8 A*-B to go to a very good college or sixth form so he don't need to take that much, unless he got the ability.

john !!

I'd say the right amount to do is 8 or 9 - if you get good grades, and they are in the right subjects (triple science if you weant to be a science person for example)

Having said that, I did the equivalent of 14 GCSEs. But trust me, you won't need them all. Make sure the reason he is doing 13 is because he enjoys them and not so that he can get into some college or impress universities.
