Not knowing how to approach someone?

I like this guy I work with a lot, we only get to speak once a week for a little bit and he seems like such a nice person. I really want to get to know him better but I don't know how to approach him to ask about seeing him outside of work. He's quite a bit older than me and i have no idea how to even find out if he's single or not.

I know this sounds really dumb but does anyone have any advice on where to begin? I'm scared to ask him out for a drink as we have only spoken a few times so it may seem a bit random to him. He's the first guy I've really had an attraction to for a long time so I'm a bit stuck! :redface:

Maybe you could try and organise a work doo. That way you aren't just asking him and you get get to know him better that way without haveing to ask straight out.

Keep it simple, ask him for a drink and get to know him first before even thinking about making a move on him.

We are having a work do in a few weeks, funnily enough. I was thinking about asking him if hes going. If he does go, any advice on how to chat to him if he's with a group of friends from work who'll also be quite a bit older than me? I'm wary of coming across as a silly little girl :frown:

I'm a bit worried about it seeming really random to him. Sorry if I seem thick, I'm just inexperienced!

WHat you got to lose by asking, if you don't ask how will you know? Thats how my relationship started with my current girlfriend it started as a drink at the pub and went from there.

You could always try going up to him. Asking how he is and then try and get a conversation going. Just asking about him and what he likes.

I guess part of me is worried that if he does say no to a drink, that I will get stick from my workmates for asking him. I shouldn't care what people think but they never let anything go! I know this is going to sound EVEN MORE dumb, but how can i work it into the conversation whilst at work. This is the only place I see him really!
