Best Halls of Residence? (The Big Accommodation Choices Thread)

I got shown around by a girl who was a warden of Oak House or something like that and she said that the boys usually had the 4 lower floor rooms and the girls took the 4 upper floor rooms in each flat.

It's pretty shabby in there but I didn't mind it. For the money I will save I can live with that.
4 guys 1 floor, 4 girls other
I can vaguely remember the few times I've been into someone's flat in Oak House.. doesn't the boys level have the massive combined kitchen/dining room? Or do the girls have a separate one as well?
It depends on the flats. The girls dont live on the ground floor. In each block all the flat kitchens are ontop of each other so if it depends what flat you are in whether or not your kitchen will be on the boys floor (ground) or girls floor (1st)
Woolton has a massive boarding school atmosphere.
I'm putting Oak house as my first 2, but what are you putting as your other 2?
I can't decide because all the rest in Fallowfields are Post Grad, Catered or Ensuite. :/
I might go for Bowden court or Whitworth in the city campus.
What do people think?
Oak House is honestly ****, don't go for it. Crap bar, and the rooms are SO small, my friend is there and the chair between the desk and bed actually touches the bed. Go for OP - great bar, big rooms - who cares if you share a toilet with 12 people - they get cleaned every day!

I'm gonna put OP as my 1st choice!
I really hope i get it - no where else looks anywhere near as good.
My next two choices are Woolton Hall and Allen Hall :s-smilie: Dunno what order yet. any advice?

I want to go self-catered, and live in fallowfields atm I was planning on going for Oak House, good idea? Richmond Park looks alright, but I'm not sure if it's worth the money or maybe Sheavyn?

I just sent it off, Oak House, Richmond Park and Sheavyn.
OhNO!

They're my choices, in that order. If you want size don't go for Oak House but I'm hardly spending my life there so I don't personally care and think about all that extra cash you'll have if you can handle sharing a bathroom. I visited Oak House and Richmond Park and liked Richmond more obviously but it's just that lil' bit too pricey.

If you've applied this early you 100% will get OP. Just hope you get the Tower as that's where it's at!

mmm
i think im gnna go for Hulme hall
omg...I think I`ll be living in a cell for well, a year...I really hope it`s not that bad with drugs and stuff...:P
I couldn`t go there during Open House, so I made my choice based on what I read on their website and the rooms in the pictures looked reasonably well. Perhaps it won`t be that bad:P (if I get Hulme)
to be frank, i reckon if you really looked you could get drugs in most halls of residence.
as for the rooms in hulme, there are a variety, as far as i've been told by friends who live there.
I've read that hulme hall is no good- that the buldings are crap etc
Is this true? :s-smilie:

Are there internet facilities in rooms?

i think i'm gonna go for Oak House, i'm not bothered about having my own shower and its by far the cheapest and with over 1000 first years it has to be pretty lively.
