I'm in Oak House this year, and apart from OP it has the best social life and you'll definately get the student experience living here. not all of oak house have washbasins in the rooms so, as said above, specify that you want one. also, its one of the cheaper halls. However, all the rooms are fine and the kitchen and living areas have been re-fitted about a year ago so they're nice.

Ooooooh! I've just seen the webpage for owens park and it sounds perfect except I need car parking! Which hall is the most like owens park but with parking I wonder?

V annoyed now. Stupid car. Wonder if I can park it on the hall's doorstep instead. It'd be like a corsa shaped doormat.

p.s. pls don't suggest not taking my car because then i'd have to sell it and I love my little car v much.

p.p.s I don't think it's fair to name it owens PARK, it's very misleading ya know. Hmph!
Careful though as catered halls arn't always the best...I know that Owens Park serves dinner as early as 5pm and a lot of the food is gone very quickly. It might actually be more convenient (and cheaper) to go non-catered.

I was on a dept open day yesterday and as part of it, i got to visit Whitworth Park halls of residence and i must say it wasn't really my cup of tea...

it all seemed a bit dingy and 'cell-like' and i really didn't like the communal bathroom idea with cubicles for toilets and showers... however maybe I'm just being fussy...

are there any other decent halls on the city campus with self contained bathroom and toilet/ensuite...??
okay, grosvenor halls all the way: the closest to city centre and university at the same time (depends what your looking for obviously..but) walking distance everywhere, and you can just get on a bus to fallowfield.right next to the aquatics centre and sugden sports centre, which are both brilliant.and going out in the city centre is way better than in fallowfield because there are simply more options and you can walk back to your halls in a few minutes.

i know people living in dalton ellis (victoria park) and seriously its in the middle of nowhere.you have to either get the expensive stagecoach bus or walk to oxford rd which isnt exactly a second away.

if you however want to live in fallowfield then really owens park.or oak house. not allen hall.its kinda dull

how long a walk is it from inner city halls like wright robinson to the lemon & lime (sorry - can't remember the name) building?

I have my first choice for accommodation as Whitworth park, my second as grosvenor because i love the location of both and the social aspect of both, my question is, what should i put as my 3rd choice? i desperately want whitworth so ideally i'd like accommodation choice that i wont get into but say i did, that it's not too different from my other two choice.
help is appreciated
thankyouuuuuuuu

chandos hall (I dont know if thats right) is right next to them 2 I THINK. I know theres a big tower block next to the cafeteria and im told its chandos but im not sure. Thats smack bang in the centre of those two if you want the location in centre of uni.

Yup... fantastic. Theres less than 500 people here and literally everyone knows everyone else by face, if not by name. The facilities are okay.. theres a squash court, and a "gym" (a squash court with the equipment in it). The rooms are not the best (apart from Houldsworth) but you'll live. The food isn't great but its edible (and, besides, you're on the curry mile). Erm... By far the best feature is the atmosphere around the place. I've been her for nearly 6 months and only know of one major argument/dispute between peoples. Everyone is cool with each other and enjoys a drink together. Which leads us to the bar, managed by Paul Kelly (shout out to PK!). Dude is a legend (acutally gets to know every single person's name.. wow) and is just as helpful and nice a guy you could wish to meet. Seriously, apart from the questionable food, Hulme Hall is dope.

What are the best choices for an MBS postgraduate student?
I think I'll apply for a uni owned residence (I'm guarranteed one, since I'm an international student) as well as for a room in Victoria Hall, which kind of sucks, because it's only till july (I need to stay until September), but on the other side, it's close to the school. I could be missing some other options. Please help. I would really like to live within 10 minutes of walking to the school.

What's the chance that the Uni will give me a decent room not far from the Business School?

Thanks.

I put
1.Sheavyn House
2.Richmond Park
3. Bukhardt House

Can anybody give me any feeback of their experience with these halls?
I don't want to end up with ppl who are posh or anythin and i also want to be with people who are social and like drinkin and goin out a lot..
i went to uni last year and sum of th girls on my corridor enjoyed watching pride and prejudice, so i want to make sure i've made the righty choices this time!!

If you want to be close go for Grosvenor or Whitworth. Grosvenor isn't that great for parties I don't think, but great location. Ditto whitworth, you're right the uni's doorstep.
