Avoid west street. Avoid the Event II at all costs.

Go to prince albert pub, that's pretty alternative!

Are there any decent dance clubs that students go to that isnt full of chavs in shirts and shoes looking for a fight?
I forgot to mention the Pav Tav! One of the best venues in Brighton, I think Wednesday is their indie night. It's opposite the entrance to the Pavillion gardens on North Street.

I've got to say, i've lived all over this country and Brighton has one of the strongest alternative scenes I've come across. Definitely not centred round West Street on a weekend though. Maybe the best is yet to come

And anyway, London's just up the road

!?! WHAT!?

OK, so West St gets a bit chavtastic at times, but you don't have to talk to them. As for Event II, it's absolutely wicked. There are a few old men trying to grope young girls, but just get your mates to shield you and enjoy the night.

What?! It's a great place! They've got some great gigs on there too. Plus there's the cool lift in summer. It goes from the top of the promenade down into Concorde II.

I also went to an indie night on a club by the beach I forget the name, that was on a saturday.

This is just my opinion as an outsider.

I can't comment on the university itself as I know nothing about it.

That would be the arc...

i was frequenting the beach, honey, event, audio. ponanas etc last year. but this year i just don't feel like getting shoved into and queuing for ages to get served so have mostly been going to bars, my new favourites of which are heist (it looks really gothy from the outside but is so friendly inside!) and los iguanos (2 for 1 cocktails all day!)

Ponanas is good though, i'd still go there.

It is pretty funny walking past the massive queus for honey, the beach etc, then just walking straight into a less commerical club. I don't know how people can be arsed to queu for half an hour. Plus at Honey you apparebtly can't take bags in anymore! Crazy.
