Hi -

I'm studying HND in Health and Social care at the moment.

My question is..

Legislation/charters and codes of practice that impact on the communication process.

So far, I have come up with The Children's Act 1989,2004

But I'm not sure how I can expand on this, I need to put about why there is an impact on the communication process.

Any ideas? Internet resources?

I'd say the data protection act, may stop you knowing important information about the child

The OCR spec outlines other examples to consider:

Legislation
Equality Act 2010
Data Protection Act 1998
Human Rights Act 1998
Access of Health Records Act 1990

Charters
CQC
Voices into Action
Department of Health Information Charter

Codes of Practice
Health and Care Professions Council Standards of Proficiency for Social Workers
Caldicott principles
Organisational codes of practice

You mentioned the Children Act, so think about your duties under this Act. If you have any concerns for the safety or wellbeing of a child for example, you have to report it. Think about who you report this to, when you should report it, how, etc.)
