Philosophy and English joint honours

I'm interested in the combination of these two subjects to study at undergraduate level. I would be very grateful for ANY suggestions or information about which unis are best for Philosophy + English.

Thanks
Have you checked out the complete university guide? That's pretty good

oh this looks good, thanks!
Hello!

I am a student at the University of Reading and study English Literature with History of Art. At the uni, you can study a BA Philosophy with English Literature and whilst I don't know too much about the philosophy department, I can tell you about English.

I've really enjoyed my time here so far and the English department have been so supportive. What really drew me to study English at Reading was the choice of modules within the course. In your first year, the modules that you study cover a wide range of areas in poetry and prose. The texts that are included in first year vary widely and this is helpful as you get to know what kind of literature really interests you. In second and third year you get to choose what modules you would like to do (second year would include a compulsory module from either English or Philosophy). It was particularly difficult choosing my third year modules as there are 40 to pick from! The university also has a great archive collection which can be very useful and interesting, especially for your dissertation.

For more information on the departments at Reading check these links out:

Philosophy and English sounds like a great combination to study. Good luck with your choices and feel free to ask any questions,
Pip, third year English and History of Art
