Can I apply for different but similar courses?

I am applying for biotechnology mainly, which my personal statement has been tailored to. But I also want to apply for biomedical studies, is it possible for me to apply for these courses? The UCAS course finder indentifies biomedical studies as a branch of biotechnology so I'm confused if I can apply for different courses.

I think you can if the personal statement fits there or thereabouts, for instance medicine personal statements get offers from biomed too, but just in case you should email the university beforehand. A friend of mine applied to 4 economics universities and 1 economic and politics, but because his personal statement wasn't tailored to the economic and politics one, he was rejected straight away.
