Asda references

Hi guys

basically I have the job at Asda and have been working there for about 3 months now when personnel says that my references haven't got back to them which could mean that they'll have to let me go. So i panicked and contacted both my references who both have confirmed that have not received any letters from Asda and now I'm thinking maybe I haven't got the specific detail eg what department the letter needed to go to

But after contacting my references they have said that they will write a reference and send it to Asda

My question is
1) is that okay for them to do so? As they haven't recieved any letters?
2) what needs to go in my references? As my personal tutor and me will sit down tomorrow to discuss it

Thanks in advance guys!!

1) There's no reason this shouldn't be okay, but just to clarify they have absolutely no obligation to offer a reference, though ASDA should not be able to dismiss you on these grounds. It is also entirely down to ASDA to request the references (as you are actually not entitled to do so from your previous employer), so if they failed to make contact then it is not your responsibility. Good for you for taking the steps forwards though - it probably solved the problem much more swiftly.
2) You shouldn't really have much to do with the writing of your reference, as your personal tutor should be independently constructing one for you based on his own experience only.

Don't worry too much about it, my boyfriend had appalling references yet he still got the job at ASDA!
