I proposed the closure of the Security Council in my manifesto.
This is now your opportunity to make a permanent decision.

Please vote, this reform is significant and will change how the MUN operates.

Arguments in favour of closure:
*The Security Council is irrelevant: it was last used in August, does not had a purpose and has lead to a two-tier system for certain positions.
*The main forum is inactive - we should focus our attentions on the GA and not a subforum.
*Very few Security Council resolutions have been proposed in the last 3-5 years.
*Few people understand or use the Security Council veto.
*Holding elections for SC positions is time-wasting and unnecessary.

Arguments in favour of retention:
*Allows members to expand the influence of their positions.
*Provides another forum for debate.
*Rotating membership for non-permanent states gives reps something to work for and attracts debate at election time.

7 days to cast your vote - it's decision time.

Personally, I think that at the moment the security council serves no purpose, because there is minimal activity in the main forum and this needs to be built up first. If we once again reach a point where the main forum is very active and there is good regular representation from lots of states, then it might be worth considering re-introducing it the future.

Yes, abolish it. It has been redundant for far too long.

Close it for now. It can always be reinstated.

I agree RotatingPhasor's comment.
You don't do anything with it though. I'm on the SC but it's dead, it may as well not be there.

The proposed closure of the Security Council has been approved by the MUN community.

I will begin the closure process shortly, along with associated Charter reforms.
