UCL's SSEES history (V101) -2nd rate

I was lookin through the UCL prospectus and noticed that there are 2 history courses at UCL: the standard V100 and the newly merged SSEES (V101). The course actually does seem interesting and actually better than the V100 course becuase it is studying areas which i have never heard about as opposed to V100 where have select carefully to not do modules you have already done. However I have also noticed that the entry requirement for the SSEES's history course is much lower than the standard history. I was wondering if this course is looked down as like a history course for weaker students or something. Because im surprised its grade requirments isin't on par with the standard UCL's history course (AAA vs ABB/BBB). If there are any UCL history students whom study V101 please reply and well give me some imformation about it. thanks

I think that the grade requirements are lower because it is not as popular, just as at a lot of universities doing a joint honours History degree with a language usually means a lower offer.

It's definitely not a 2nd rate rate degree, Kerrit is right in saying it has lower grade requirements because it's less popular. However, there are some people who consider SSEES as the backdoor into UCL, I'm not one of them though; especially as I agree that in general I prefer the modules offered in V101 compared to V100 at UCL.

It's supply and demand - the course at UCL is simply more in demand, inflating the grade requirements.

You can also take options from the V100 course at UCL - but I would only apply for V101 if you were interested in that sort of History.

it's not second rate and anyway if you graduate from SSEES your diploma/certificate merely states UCL grad student so it will not affect how employers view you.
