What does gender dysphoria feel like?Watch
Gender dysphoria is something that as a cisgendered female is completely beyond my understanding
It's not the concept of transsexualism that eludes me but the actual sensation of being a different gender to your assigned body.
When it comes it homosexuality, it's not exactly difficult for people to transfer their own crushes etc to people of the same sex and understand what it is like to be gay, but to my understanding cisgendered people have literally no concept of what the feeling of gender dysphoria is like. At all.
So I was wondering if anyone who is trans/genderqueer would describe the sensation that they have in their situation and possibly if anyone has transitioned, what the difference is like?
Also while we're on the topic, does anyone else feel like referring to transsexualism as gender dysphoria is almost presenting the genderqueer spectrum as a mental problem? I would really like to have a chat about this because in my personal experience, I was introduced to the whole concept as people simply being born in the wrong body rather than misdevelopment in the womb etc and I'm very unclear on how exactly to define it.
They include personal accounts and experiences of people with gender dysphoria.
