Might go to the drs about acne

Basically my skin has got really bad recently. Ive got loads of red pimples (i guess? they dont really have heads) on my cheeks and ive started getting them on my forehead again (havent had any there for ages!).

Its really werid because ive made a conscious effort not to pick/touch my spots and face during the day, ive been using BP twice a day also and ive replaced fatty snacks with fruit (i know they say diet has nothing to do with it but its worth a try).

About a month ago when i was in the sun they totally cleared up and they have been getting gradually worse since ive been back and i hate them :frown: If i go to the doctors what are the chances of him giving me some anti biotics to help clear them up?

Depends on the GP, reasonably high normally but there are other options - especially for severe acne vulgaris.

You thought about getting a sun lamp (used for SAD) for your room?

Isn't it the Vitamin D in the sun that helps improve the skin? Do those sun lamps even have Vitamin D in them, sure they have UV but it's not the same thing. Most likely if you go to the doctor you'll be referred on to a dermatologist and they'll go from there if it's serious. If the doctor doesn't think it's serious enough to warrant a specialist they'll give you something topical to apply which probably won't help much.

Visit the GP as soon as possible. He'll probably work you up on antibiotics until you get something that's effective.

meh...i'm no biologist or chemist. I don't know much about these lamps as i don't buy into this SAD pap, just another made up thing.

he will help you, my doctor prescibed me antibiotics and mine cleared up TOTALLY. However, 1 year on he told me I had to come off them because they can swell up joints if you're on them for too long. My skin is still bad now, but nowhere near what it was like.
My bf is on some medication for acne and he got it really easily.

Well just to keep you informed. I went today and she said she isnt sure how much of it is acne and how much is "insert word here" (some technical term, said it was something to do with hair follicles and my shaver could be making it worse so i have to clean it properly!). She has given me some anti biotics called Flucloxacillin that should help both and i have to take them for a week and by the end the big red ones should be gone! Then two weeks from now i have to go back and see what my skin is like then and she will decide whether i need any other anti biotics.

The instructions on these tablets say to take them an hour before food or on an empty stomach ... how important is the hour before food bit? Because i was going to take one as soon as i wake up but then i usually eat my breaky 15-20 minutes after ive woken up :/

Do you use a electric shaver? it also could be ingrown hairs gettin infected which is cassing the red bumps(u say are spots)
if your shaving with a blade try this
soak a handtowel/washtowel(what every you call it) in hot water(as hot as you can take it)
place on face to 5min's
then do normal shaving(sorry im female dont no much about shaving face)

what this does is open you pore's and hair follicles which helps ingrown hair loose, also may sound gurly but exfoliation works wonders some facial washes have beads in that helps,

Yeah i have an electric shaver.

I've got this exfoliating face wash (a Witch one) and it has beads but i haven't used it much because when i did my skin seemed to get worse. Probably coincidence though because they are still here even though i haven't been using it.

thats what it might be as electric shaver burns the skin(though you might not feel it) My ex had this problem and he got Bump Patrol(black skin product) and you just apply it as its cream and it reduces the the bumps

also exfoliation should be done once or twice a week(i do it daily) it takes up to 3 weeks to work make ger worse before it gets better

Just been doing some research on this anti biotic and found the name of the technical term on another message board. Its folliculitis, anyone know anything about that?

Edit: From wiki - Folliculitis is inflammation of one or more hair follicles :/
