Molar concentration Question

What is the molar concentration of lysozyme in a solution containing 5 mg/ml of the protein? (lysozyme, MW = 16537 Da)

Select one or more:
a. 82.7 M
b. 0.3025 mM
c. 0.00827 g/L
d. 3.025 x 10^-4 mol/L

Hi could someone help me with this question? i have been using the equation Cm= c x MW but i am out by a couple of figures. Thanks :smile:

Can you show us your calculations?

Sure :smile:

Cm= c x MW

5= c * 16537

c= 5/16537

c= 0.000302352 M or 0.3023523 mM

As you can see, it is not quite the right answer. Also im not sure if i am meant to convert units for the 5 since it is in mg/ml.

No, what you've done is completely correct. I can only assume that the answers have rounded earlier or something.

One thing though: there is more than one correct answer in this question.

Oh okay thankyou :smile: Yeah- i realised this. The answer is there in mM and M. Thankyou for pointing that out.
