What happened a couple of days ago really put the icing on the cake for one of the top 10 reasons why I do not like new Labour. What MP Emily Thornberry did was a clear indication of the hate to the working class up and down the country.

After this I don't think I can go on supporting Labour. I'm still a Libertarian Socialist but it does show you Labour is out of touch. With 1 hand they claim to speaking for the majority of the English but on the other they will quite happily strike a dagger into the majority of the English backs.

The English flag doesn't just represent a nation it represents brotherhood between all English people.

We all get over heated in this forum a lot but we tend to forget a couple of things. Majority of us are related in so many ways and we forget this. Instead we talk about the negatives instead of the positives. So for this week I am going to tone it down a bit.

I'm going to put the English flag in my avatar to show unity with all English workers. Brothers, Sisters I am ashamed of how Labour has treated you. So here is to you. Here is to my countrymen. I salute you.

Just remember guys.. if you have flags then they should be British flags as well.. don't encourage just English nationalism.

Agreed.

You should fear a government who fears and/or denigrates it's people.

I am British, not English. I think it is a shame but a fact that if the country wants to keep its culture and way of life it must remain a 80% plus white country. No because of the white people because many of them are no British as in from other part of Europe. Rather because for no white people their race comes before their culture or way of life in Britain.

As an individual (But not as an MP, for purely political reasons) Emily Thornberry is quite right to sneer at overt displays of cheap patriotism that had been shown on that house in Strood. Th medway towns, in which I live often have flags flying across them. In some cases this is fine, (the Olympics for example) and even though i dislike the concept of Monarchy the Jubilee celebrations, basically on certain times of the year, such as ST Georges day it is actually quite acceptable to fly flags and I actually think that England misses out when you look at Welsh and Scottish overt displays of patriotism. However, sometimes (And i know the nationalists simply cant stand to hear this) it isn't.

Attempts to nationalize a debate or idea or party are inherently dangerous. By this i mean that in order to be part of a nation you must all share common traits and whilst a degree of conformity is required for a civilized country (Most basically a general appreciation for Liberty) that in order to apply this to more than this will generally end up displacing this idea and will be used for an infinite number of ends. Why is it that Britain First, The BNP and now most tellingly, the conservative party all feature the Union J? Which one of these is the real party of Britain and what about the other parties, or are they all Marxist stooges as the BNP would have you believe. On a divergent point, in response to a UKIP poppy rosette, apparently ALL the political parties have done one now in the Medway park war memorial...what next? A Talk Talk rosette (Because our soldiers believed in faster broadband!)?

Now this Strood guy i believe to be perfectly innocent in all of this in that quite simply couldn't be bothered to put down the flags after the world cup (which isn't very patriotic in itself!) and TBH the juxtaposition of the three flags formed an awkward mess that was, frankly embarrassing to look at. Not only this but, laughably, this guy drove to the MPs house and waved an England flag (with The Sun newspaper in the center of the flag) to show that he was a "Decent working class man".

The point that I am making is that the "liberal elite" are being far more patronizing to the working classes in holding up this man as the penultimate working class ubersmench than they would simply laughing at him. Rich people are always going to sneer at poor people and vice versa, even if only unconsciously and with some liberal guilt thrown in for the rich. Maybe what politicians should do instead of condemning or patronizing people is accept that people are free to express themselves in unfortunate ways whether this is by laughing at those less fortunate than them and those that plan on voting Britain First. In any case, there are plenty of working class peple who do need to have multiple England flags plastered on their house to feel English.
