Don't forget to go to the freshers fair and join the caving club, great days out! Although i think they might of merged with Outdoor pursuits and become a big soceity now. Join em!!! God i want to be back at uni!

hey im off 2 huddersfield in sept,meant to be sheff but dint quite get the grades...doing physio course,anyone else doin that?

Regarding freshers fair, if there is a massive queue like there was when I went don't bother queuing. You'll be there for ages, go for a beer or something a come back later. Or if you don't go you can always get info of societies/clubs at http://www.huddersfieldstudent.com (although they just updated the site and not all info is there ATM).
If your looking to do something sporty I recommend the Kung Fu club: http://www.7starmantis.net
My favourite pubs are The Albert Hotel (on the same street as index, near the library) and The Rat and Ratchet (if you walk from Uni to Visage you will most likely pass by it). Both have good selection of ales, and if you don't want to cook The Albert has good food menu. O'Neils just accross from Uni is great also, remember to visit on St Patricks Day!
AS for Freshers week, you will most likely have a few activities spread throughout the week, course intros, admin stuff etc and in Computing and Engineering School there was a Treasure Hunt which was supprisingly good. You will most likely have lots of free time though.
I wasn't too happy with storthes hall. The bus journey gets annoying; you will realise this when you have to plan your activities around the bus timetable! Taxis are a £5 to/from storthes from town which isn't bad if not too frequent.
The DBar at storthes isn't great but has developed a cult following. For a night out you will probably want to go to Visage/Ethos or somewhere else in town!

iv applied to a privatly owned one called firth point....its across the road from the uni....i just requested a room online after searching on google!

Well I passed the year and enjoyed myself immensely all the way through it.
I will be living in Firth Point too next year. Its lovely and right near the uni. I haven't recieved anything significant from them either but I know I've got my room and its C/8/3 or somthing. Anyway, if anopyone has any questions about anything to do with Huddersfield I will answer them all.
Good luck and if you want I can go and find out if you have a rom there. I'll pop in and say my friend called [your name] wants to know if she's got a room, and they just check on the records.
