Hello there, I'm starting in September too, doing Music Technology & Digtal Media. Went to the open day, that's what convinced me. Should be pretty class staying at Storthes Hall..(can anyone confirm someone actually "cleans" your flat for you?)
Good to hear people enthusiastic bout the music scene and the town. Looking forward to it.

I'm pretty certain enrollment is Monday 19th DominicS, d'you know when we get into the digs....?
Seems I'm gonna have to change my phone, our open day guide said about vodaphone too.

yea, been reading my material and phoned the uni, and freshers week/enrollment is the 19th - reg. is at 9 in the morning :eek:

As for getting in halls, 17th and 18th - though it depends what room youre in (states in the info about halls that even numbers are sat and odds sunday, something like that) - when do we find out what room we're in is anybodys guess, though im sure it'll be soon etc
And yea, someone cleans rooms once every two weeks i think - though clean being hoovering etc Not cleaning up you're pit - so we still have to keep rooms clean to a certain extent lol

Though its cool that there is a fellow MT&DM dude on here :biggrin:

yeh we can move in on the sat 17th or sun 18th because thats when you can look around with parents or friends etc - but i dont know what day i'm going on yet.

The 17th is apparently dedicated to the students which are starting next year whilst the 18th is more for us lot - though we are able to look around either day.

well i got a letter saying we could go either day - to look around and everything and to move in at the same time i'm guessing - or it would just be stupid for those that have to travel really far!

i think i am going to go on Sunday 18th now, because thats mainly for the new students starting this year - not next... I still havn't been told what room i'm getting though which is a bit crap! We do all get our own bathroom don't we?!?

about the rooms, just been reading that "manual" for the rooms up at Storthes and it says that even rooms are the 17th and odd rooms are the 18th, which is a bit :confused:

as i havn't been told what room im in yet :frown:

I havent got mine either. I thought it said different times for odd or even number rooms. I didnt understand it properly..it said sumthin like 10:00-2:00 odd and 2:00-6:00 even but then it said moving days on the 17th and 18th. :confused:

This thread has alleviated my fears that the only people going to Hudds would be people living in Hudds and i'd have no one to talk to. I'm doing Drama starting this sept and i was impressed with the Drama department, it was better than the drama depts of the other unis that would have had me :smile:

Ooo, btw to those who were asking about clubs. I think i read in the hudds prospectus that there arent any clubs in huddersfield but theres are tons of bars, Huddersfield is as Yorkshire as you are going to find so this isnt a surprise, But Leeds is only around half an hour away with regular buses so finding a club wont be hard.

Really don't worry about that. I was at Bristol UWE last year (didn't work out) not knowing anyone. The first week, Freshers, is when everyone gets to know everyone. The thing I did was I went door knocking, quite literally going to peoples flats and introducing myself. More often than not I got invited in.
Seriously, I think it's better not knowing anyone, it makes going home better.
Organize something thru this forum, meet in the bar maybe, for a wee hello.

ok, looks like im the only one not staying in storthes so il hav to just make lots of mates and stay with them hehe....im so excited!! my halls look amazing, the course is amazing, everyone goin seems really cool...its all looking good!!
im goin to move in b4 the 18th probs, not sure wen tho...im getting my keys 2moro tho, and having a look round my halls!! goin to move some of my stuff in too. cant believe the time has actually come! its scary!

Well, I called and the bloke said we'll get letters sometime this coming week with the room number and the times for everything.
It's odd, cos I'd already booked the ferry over for the 18th, so I won't arrive until the Monday 19th. So I'm assuming I can move in then allright, just everyone'll probably be settled already :smile:

aww i dont hav to worry bout moving into my halls...im all sorted now..moved half my things in ystday, goin to stay a night or two this week to keep my new flat mate company and then il move in properly next week....i luv my halls...my room is luvly and iv already made new friends (and been to the local pub lol!)...il probably have a look round the uni on the sunday...not sure if my parents will come too tho, as il already have moved in by then...then freshers starts the day after!! woo! we shud arrange a time and place and see how many forum people turn up lol!
