No.

The BCG vaccine leaves a small scar on the tricep because of the way the vaccine is injected into the skin. It's normal for there to be a red welt over the site for a week or so after the injection. The scar serves as a marker - anyone with the scar is vaccinated.

(And why is this anon?)

You normally get a big scar when some tosser decides to give you a dead arm on the BCG site, it then tends to turn black, oozes and leave you with a noticable scar.

Me neither, yet i see people with craters on their arms that look like extra-terrestrial experiments.

Oooh, lets compare scars... Apart from the BCG i have about 150-200 other scars, so i may win by a little bit.

Nothing went wrong with my BCG, but I do have a little scar from it, along with another scar from some other vaccination that I don't even remember.
Then again, school nurses are not usually the gentlest of people..

I have about 2.5' of scars. Do I come close?
What's BCG? Is it just another name for the TB jab or something completly different.
Its the same thing. I've got a teeny little scar from mine. It used to be pinkish in colour but its faded now.

It's the Bacillus Calmette-Guerin vaccine that immunises against TB. It used to be given to everyone in secondary school, now (with TB on the rise), it's only given to babies in 'at risk' populations, i.e. immigrants.

As you're given the injection as a baby, I think the scar stretches as you grow. So initially, it was probably really small, if you have big chicken wings, you'll probably have a big scar by now.

Cheers. In my school we just called it "having the TB injection" so I got confused whe people on here and at uni called it BCG.

My scar was more noticeable a few years back but now I'm really pale so its harder to spot. For some reason mine is lower than most peoples. One of my friends arm blew up when she had the tester so she didnt have to have the injection. She felt left out though when everyone else was talking about how the liquid swishing into our arms felt like.

Close but no cigar, i'm afraid. I have about 4.5-5' of scars, its about 30cm on my stomach/chest, 30cm on my spine, about 30-40cm on my leg, another 30cm on my arm and about another 6"-12" made up from various other 1-2" scars. I look like someone has half finshed a connect-the-dots.

Edit: Forgot the arm.
I have a BCG scar..it got infected 10 weeks after I had it....then burst..and scarred over..
