Getting over anxiety issues... (on a time limit!)

Hi,

Tomorrow I am going to be put into a situation where I will have to confront my anxieties. I'm anxious but know I have to face them sometime.

Normally in similar situations I just don't do anything or say anything and look stupid  but frankly I'm sick of that alternative and I'm getting too old to behave like that.

Basically I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to get rid of anxious thoughts I will have, e.g. not think that everyone is looking at me and concentrating on everything I say

I know it will be a bit of a shock to some people so I expect to be concentrated on but I am looking for ways that will not make me think about that so much that it makes me curl up

Hope you can help me

Whats the situation-that might help to know so you can get more specific advice.

I will be going abroad and will have to speak to people/family in another language and it makes me feel incredibly self-conscious!

I guess you could compare it to having to sing in front of other people just to clarify.

if you are good at the language and with family, what's the problem? i can understand if you are a bit shaky with language, getting it wrong is somewhat embarassing, but if you make it clear you are unfamiliar with the language im sure people/family will understand. You sound more paranoid than anxious, good luck x
